Brecon Beacons is a north-facing mountain range in South Wales, near the town of Brecon. The range includes the highest point in southern Britain,; Pen y fan, which climbs 2,907 feet high. The fields of Brecon Beacons National Park are filled with evidence of many years of human history, including single standing stones, or menhirs, from the Bronze Age. The remains of ancient stone circles and Iron Age Celtic hill forts can also be found here. Surrounded with grasslands and water meadows, Llangorse Lake offers an appealing abode for geese, warblers, starlings, ducks, and other birds, which can be seen from the lakeside hide. The lake also features the remains of an Iron Age crannog, or human-made rock island, on the northern shore. Historians believe the ninth-century King of Brycheiniog may have sheltered here from The Vikings.
How to Get There: The park is just an hour from Cardiff International Airport. Trains stop at Abergavenny, Llandeilo, Llandovery, and Merthyr Tydfil. Buses also run to these main centers and offer connections to smaller communities inside the park.
When to Visit: Anytime is a great time to visit Brecon Beacons, but many people around the world flock to Hay-on-Wye, a town with some 40 bookshops, for the Hay Festival in late May and early June. U.S. President Bill Clinton called the event “the Woodstock of the mind.”
How to Visit: On holidays and summer Sundays, visitors can take advantage of the Beacons Bus, which is based in Brecon and runs routes around the park. Visitors can hop on and off at their convenience.
Friends come in all shapes and sizes. According to the (U.K.) Daily Mail, an 8-year-old boy has befriended a usually skittish group of marmots during his yearly visits to the Austrian Alps. Since he was 4 years old, Matteo Walch has been traveling with his family to Groslocker in the Austrian Alps for two weeks every year. It was at that young age that Matteo began forming his unusual bond with the mountain marmots. Usually when marmots encounter humans, the animals will chatter their teeth as a warning to stay away. If a human doesn’t back down, the marmots will let out a loud whistle to let others in the colony know that they should flee. When Matteo arrives, there are no chatterings or whistles of warning. Instead, the marmots eagerly approach him.
The animals show affection for the boy, letting him feed them and play with them without hesitation. Matteo’s father, Michaela, has taken photos of his son’s encounters with the animals since their first trip to the Alps. Michaela told the Daily Mail why he thinks his child is an exception to the marmot’s skittishness. “He loves those animals and they are not at all afraid of Matteo because he has a feeling towards them and they understand that.”A nature lover himself, Michaela adores watching Matteo form a close connection with the animals. This bond is not only touching to observe, but allows Michaela to capture pictures of the creatures exhibiting natural behaviors without fear.
Michaela described to the Daily Mail the meaning of photographing his son’s realtionship, saying, “The picture of a curious animal approaching me is a thousand times more beautiful than the picture of any animal looking at me in fear before it takes flight. This is how I try to picture the proudest, more beautiful and also the funniest moments, giving others the opportunity to enjoy the miraculous world of animals.” With the annual trip to the Alps still planned for the years to come, it looks like Matteo has many furry, life-long friendships to look forward to.
I love fashion! No matter if you are going to work, or stepping out on the weekend, nothing says “Wow look at girl with that fresh trendy look!” You can wear these type of colors pretty much any way possible. You can mix and match, tone them up or down. Bright colors give women that little touch of sassy and not afraid to stand out! You can go soft or strong when blending them and matching them up. When I saw some of these pictures it made me want to try out the look. I hope many of the girls that read my post today might be inspired to try out these looks too 🙂
This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you
will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important
because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this
day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left
behind, let it be something good.

Officials at a British zoo said a pair of gorilla brothers separated for three years greeted each other with a big hug 🙂
Zookeepers at the Longleat Safari park in Wiltshire, England, said Kesho, 13, has grown into a full-sized adult silverback gorilla since the last time he saw his brother, Alf, 9, but the two primates literally greeted one another with open arms hugging, shaking hands and slapping one another on the back when they were recently reunited at the zoo, The Daily Telegraph reported Thursday.
The zookeepers said the brothers were both born at Ireland’s Dublin Zoo, but were separated when Kesho was sent to the London Zoo to take part in a breeding program. However, Kesho was found to be infertile and the brothers both ended up at Lengleat’s new $4.71 million gorilla enclosure.
“We weren’t entirely sure that the brothers would even know each other, but the moment they met you could just see the recognition in their eyes,” Longleat gorilla keeper Mark Tye told the Daily Mail. “They were very animated and there was a lot of rough and tumble, but not in an aggressive way. It is quite unusual to see that sort of childlike behavior in a silverback.”
